ACCOMMODATION
Such character, such style – miles from the beaten track, bordered by beautiful stone barns. Romantic bedrooms. You bathe in a roll top tub in the room! Wallow by candle light with a glass of wine. Rustic perfection, ancient peace
Alastair Sawday’s Special Places to Stay
“If wallowing in a huge cast-iron bath followed by soft towels, bath robes, crisp white sheets with the fluffiest pillows ever, is your thing, you’ll be in B&B heaven here.”
Women’s Health May
A beautifully restored 14 th century Saxon manor near the beach, featuring lime-washed walls, polished wooden floorboards and cast-iron baths. Gotten Manor is awarded its gold Green Island Award for the environmental ethics adopted by owner Caroline Gurney-Champion. She uses eco cleaning products, places bricks in cistern to minimise water use when flushing, sources everything from within the island and makes her own organic jams, marmalades, yoghurt, etc.
Coast
There is no mistaking the ancient charm of this b/b …perfect for a romantic weekend…. Breakfast is made from local and organic produce….and even the house’s water supply comes from the local stream
Time Out Weekend Breaks
“The peaceful location is enhanced by sympathetic restoration . . . . Downstairs . . an open fire and a separate cosy dining room where breakfast using the finest ingredients are served ”
AA Britain’s Best Bed and Breakfast
“Caroline serves breakfast at separate circular tables in what was the creamery. Her menu might include salmon with scrambled eggs . . home made yogurt, compote and muesli, organic sausages and smoothies. ”
Staying Off The Beaten Track
“We love everything but most of all the simplicity, log fire, fresh daffodils and snowdrops, white bedding, fluffy robes and reading about Gotten manor in the book beside the fire. Fellow guests don’t go out to eat but enjoy the simple pleasures of cheese, chutney, olives and salami with good wine from the deli in Ventnor; beside the roaring log fire. ”
